Comter Systems is currently looking to fill several Senior Database Administrator positions in the Rockville and Gaithersburg, MD region. This position requires DB2 UDB/AIX database design, administration, maintenance, problem resolution , performance tuning, and customer support at the very highest of skill levels.

You will work closely with SR DBA staff and Architects to design and implement a highly complex and secure multi-clustered Peoplesoft application. Develop and document procedures, processes, and standards for security, change control, and data management. Provide complex support and maintenance of numerous production and non-production DB2 database environments. You will be responsible for critical PeopleSoft Application administration, support, and problem resolution. Participate in critical and complex applications architecture and database design efforts for meeting production requirements. Will mentor less senior staff and assist in managing critical tasks and assignments. Implement performance and audit monitoring procedures to assure the maximum availability and security of the database. Implement, maintain, monitor, and document database security in accordance with published DoD STIG requirements.

• Six years DB2 UDB v5/6/7/8 database administration on AIX / Unix Four years experience supporting PeopleSoft in a DB2 UDB environment Extensive DB2 Backup, Recovery and Continuous Availability expertise Extensive knowledge of DB2 UDB /AIX performance monitoring and tuning procedures Strong understanding of PeopleSoft architecture, administration, and problem resolution.

• Able to install DB2 and apply FixPacks. Skilled in UNIX Shell scripting for database task automation.

• Expert SQL skills including ability to rewrite complex queries for performance improvement. Able to architect databases, including intricate capacity, memory, data sizing, and disk layouts.

• Highly skilled in complex troubleshooting and problem resolution methods. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Able to prioritize and multi-task Ability to be on-call 24x7 and work occasional weekends on a rotating basis

Experience:

• 13 years without degree, 9 years with Bachelor's, 7 years with Master's

• Additionally, candidates possessing the following experience (in order of desirability) are considered a plus: Extensive DB2 EEE (DPF) experience in a multi-partitioned distributed environment IBM Advanced DB2 UDB and/or AIX Certifications DB2 UDB experience in a Windows server environment Experience.

• US Citizenship required and must be able to attain a secret security clearance.
