- Comter Graduates from VEDP AIM Export Development Program. Comter Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce its graduation from the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) Accessing International Markets (AIM) export development program. The year-long AIM program introduces companies across Virginia to new global business opportunities. AIM enables companies to learn the basics of exports and gain international business through quarterly seminars, visits to the target market, and export market counseling. In our year as an AIM program participant, Comter focused on the India and Singapore markets. Utilizing the support of the AIM program, Comter initiated business and established contacts in India and Singapore through site visits, marketing efforts, and networking. Our graduation indicates that we have made significant inroads on our target markets. Comter’s success in the AIM program was facilitated by Elizabeth Morgan-Brown, AIM Program Manager, and Jenee Andreev, our VEDP local Trade Manager. Comter’s graduation from the program now enables us to gain free access to VEDP services such as export counseling and tailored market research services with VEDP's Global Network of 44 in-country consultants.More...

Client: DynCorp, Reston, VA
Proejct: PeopleSoft HRMS & Financials 7.5 & 8.0
For DynCorp, one of the largest Federal contractors, Comter Systems designed and developed a complete Time and Labor (T&L) system in PeopleSoft. The T&L system was designed to meet the requirements for business rules and to meet the auditing requirements of the Defense Contracting Audit Agency (DCAA). Comter Systems successfully completed the engagement on time and within budget. Comter Systems was selected as the sole implementation partner for the ongoing support of DynCorp's HR and Financial systems, including development of new applications, training users, and development of user documentation. Comter Systems helped in the evaluation of various auxiliary packages to work with the ERP system including a Web based T&L system, an EDI package to work with AP module, and an Open Enrollment system. Comter Systems then integrated DynCorp's HR and Financial systems with the new Time and Labor System.
One of the key requirements of DynCorp was strict internal controls on the system and we had to develop major customizations to limit the ability of the user to change data once the monthly closings are done. We created customizations that enforced an audit trail once the data is validated for any changes. In 2002, the system was found compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley act per government audit because of the internal controls developed by Comter implementation team.
Comter Systems assisted DynCorp in a PeopleSoft Upgrade for DynCorp's HR and Financial systems. The tools used for the PeopleSoft upgrade and development were PeopleTools 7.5, SQR, Query, Crystal Reports, COBOL. We also assisted in establishing the infrastructure necessary for another PeopleSoft upgrade to version 8.0. Comter Systems has further assisted in the infrastructure implementation by providing training for the users of the new Payroll system and training DynCorp's developers on the new tools.
After Comter successfully completed engagements supporting DynCorp's HRMS, Financials, Time & Labor modules, DynCorp selected Comter Systems to evaluate their infrastructure and recommend and implement a long-term plan. Comter Systems infrastructure group performed a complete evaluation of all systems, and recommended a phased strategy to move DynCorp towards a scalable IT infrastructure. By implementing Comter System's recommendations, DynCorp realized tremendous performance enhancements, developed a policy for IT support, streamlined its IT department, and established a more efficient organizational structure.

Client: Nextel Communications, Reston, VA
Project: PeopleSoft HRMS v. 7.5
The Nextel Annual Merit, Bonus and Stock Option Program required review and action for all active employees (initial number at 18,113). Data was extracted from the PeopleSoft HRMS version 7.5 system and populated in a spreadsheet. This program resembles PeopleSoft panels; field level help; utilizes push technology to populate values from tables when the employee's grade and/or location changes; calculates pool totals, usage and available amounts; audit check at employee level to identify key data fields not populated; and an employee summary panel for printing a confirmation form. The on-line form has received very positive feedback from the user community.
Comter also successfully managed a PeopleSoft data conversion and integration project for the payroll system of Nextel Retail employees. This project, which was completed on time and within budget, encompassed analysis, design, development testing and production cutover.
